Brooklyn Arms Company "Slocum" Revolver

Manufactured by the Brooklyn Arms Company between 1863 and 1864, the "Slocum" revolver was an attempt to circumvent the Rollin White bored through cylinder patent controlled by Smith & Wesson and first introduced on their No.1 revolver in 1857. The Slocum is a unique design with individual cartridge chambers in the form of sliding tubes within cut outs on the cylinder. The chambers slide forward one at a time over a fixed rod on the right side to expose, load and eject. This example is has a 3" (76mm) barrel chambered marked with “B.A. Co. Patented April 14, 1863”. The 5 shot cylinder is chambered in the .32 Rimfire cartridge. Serial No. 38.
